Naviant is looking for an Accounting Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the accounting department along with providing guidance and support to the department staff. This position has been developed to support our organizational growth and will report to the Vice President of Finance. What it takes to be our Accounting Supervisor:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • 3+ years progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite of Office Products with expert knowledge of Excel
  • Intermediate experience with an Accounting ERP application, Accounting Seed is a plus
  • Experience ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting practices
  • Ability to maintain standards of A/P & A/R
  • Focus on process improvement and key business performance metrics
  • Above average analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills

What your role will look like as an Accounting Supervisor:

Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise the work of accounting staff
  • Continually develop staff and conduct meaningful and effective reviews on a timely basis

General Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the management of the general ledger, including the maintenance, reconciliation and documentation of general ledger accounts
  • Oversee processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain and administer the accounting system to close the books within five (5) working days after the close of each fiscal month
  • Assure that all vendor discount opportunities are maximized
  • Actively manage cash balance
  • Oversee sales tax returns and assist with other tax compliance issues and returns (including, but not limited to income tax and property tax)
  • Develop and maintain department policies and procedures
  • Assist in formulating and revising other company-wide business policies and procedures as requested.  Meet or discuss issues regularly with corporate staff to enhance communication
  • Oversee payroll and time reporting

Finance, Budgeting & Reporting

  • Prepare all required financial statements for the corporation
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual operating, capital and cash-flow budgets
  • On an ongoing basis, assist with monitoring budget performance and help managers identify, interpret, and resolve an unusual variance
  • Assemble and prepare statistics on key areas of company operations and assist in analyzing, interpreting and communicating this information
  • Analyze and monitor the company’s short-term cash flow requirements. Assure that company resources are properly allocated in accordance with cash and budget constraints
  • Coordinate with and provide adequate financial information to the accounting firm selected to review the company’s financial statements and assist in the preparation of income tax returns
  • Manage the company’s fixed asset records, along with appropriate depreciations schedule
