Cumulus is Naviant’s Managed Agentic Platform. It is organized around a description of how your business works rather than around its own feature set, which is what allows agents to act on your actual situation instead of guessing at it.

What Cumulus Is

Enterprise software is organized around the job it was bought to do. Your CRM is built around pipeline and your ERP around transactions, and both are good at those jobs. Neither was designed to answer a question about the organization as a whole, and neither has any reason to be.

Cumulus is organized around a description of your business instead: the entities you deal in, how they relate, which system governs when two of them disagree, how work moves, and the decisions your people have made along the way. Agents operate against that description, your staff supervise through it, and each decision made returns to it.

Naviant built it after four decades of transformation work produced a conclusion that was difficult to avoid, which is that the tooling for this did not exist. Point solutions automate a task and retain the understanding for themselves. Data platforms unify records without being able to safely act on them. Every engagement was assembling the same foundation out of parts that were never meant to fit together, so Naviant built it once as a product.

Naviant Brings the Engine, the Dashboard, and the Driver

Cumulus does three jobs, and the commercial relationship is structured the same way.

The engine is the machinery that runs your model: the execution layer for your workflows and data flows, the control point every change has to pass through, and the audit record underneath all of it. Naviant builds, hosts, governs, and maintains it, so your team does not operate, staff, or upgrade any part of it.

The dashboard is where your people work. Views are assembled from your model rather than built by hand for each department, and the same understanding is carried out through connections into Teams, email, and whatever your staff already have open.

The driver is engineers who sit with your team, model your domain, author the definitions, and remain after go-live. Your environment does not hold still, so keeping the model current is continuous by nature rather than a phase that closes.

The standard Naviant asks to be measured against is the second build. It should take materially less time than the first, because the foundation laid by the first one is reused rather than rebuilt. If it does not, the foundation was not real.

What Is Inside Cumulus

Your model, built one entity at a time. You do not map the organization, and you do not begin by defining everything. Define Customer and what follows inherits it. Add Employee, then Invoice, then whatever the next problem requires. Each ships in weeks rather than years, and each lowers the cost of the next.

Cumulus Orchestration is the layer that runs the work. Rather than requiring your organization to license, configure, and manage orchestration software itself, Cumulus provides a private Naviant hosted UiPath environment where that is the right fit, alongside direct system connections, RPA, agents, data services, and human review, selected by what the workflow requires.

Cumulus Intelligence is the agentic layer. Hosted agents connect into your workflows over secure connections, and Naviant runs agent operations so your team does not have to. Cumulus is deliberately model agnostic: the model is selected per task rather than committed to up front, and models can be replaced as better ones ship without rebuilding what runs on top of them. For harder work, Intelligence executes multi step sequences combining agents, system calls, robotic automation, and human review in a single flow.

Cumulus Data is the content layer agents draw from for retrieval, examples, and supporting context. A document library on its own hands an agent text with no idea what the text is about. Cumulus Data is wired to your model, so retrieved content arrives attached to the entity it belongs to.

One Place to Go for the Work That Needs a Person

A single view of the work has been promised for thirty years and delivered as a portal containing eleven links, because nothing underneath it understood how the pieces related. You cannot assemble a view around a customer while five systems disagree about what a customer is. The interface was never the difficult part.

Once the model exists, Cumulus assembles two things from it.

A Task is a decision being put to you, and it arrives with what you need to decide: the data, the history, what the agent already did, where it is uncertain, and what it recommends. Tasks route by role and expertise, so what reaches you is what genuinely requires you rather than what happened to land in a shared queue.

A Workspace is the work organized around a job rather than around an application. Run collections and your workspace is the accounts, the invoices, the promises made, what is slipping, and what is waiting. A manager can see how the work is running without being assigned any piece of it, which is something managers have wanted for a long time and have not had.

What Makes an Agent Safe to Trust

Foundational Governance & Security You Can Trust 

We meet you where you are. Cumulus can deploy in your own environment or the Cloud. Compute and storage are segregated at the project level, so your data is never co-mingled with another organization’s. Data is natively encrypted in transit and at rest.

HIPAA and Business Associate Agreements

Naviant has worked inside protected health information for decades and executes Business Associate Agreements as a standard part of healthcare engagements. If your organization is a covered entity or a business associate, the BAA is part of the contract rather than an exception to it. Naviant maintains the administrative, physical, and technical safeguards the HIPAA Security Rule requires, and healthcare engagements are scoped with those obligations in place from the start.

Model selection is a standard rather than a commitment

Cumulus is model agnostic, and Naviant selects per task based on what the work requires. Any provider Cumulus uses has to satisfy one condition before it is eligible: a commercial agreement contractually prohibiting the use of customer data to train models. Your content answers your questions and is used for nothing else. The specific models running in your environment are documented as part of your engagement.

For teams working with protected health information, Social Security numbers, or financial records, Cumulus masks sensitive data at the input layer before anything reaches a model. Every agent action is written to an immutable log, so when your compliance team asks what the system did and when, there is a record.

Deployment region, data residency, retention, export, and purge are set per customer as part of the engagement. A detailed security overview is available to your security and risk team on request.

Where to Start: The First Agent Pays for the Foundation

The fastest returns appear where teams spend their time reading, checking, routing, entering, validating, and reconciling. An agent inside a document heavy process is the natural opening move.

Accounts payable is the common example. An agent running on Cumulus extracts the invoice, matches it against purchase order and vendor records, posts the clean transactions straight through, and routes the exception to your accounts payable manager with the discrepancy, the relevant contract terms, and a proposed next action already assembled.

The interesting part is what building it forces. To process an invoice you have to define what an invoice is, and immediately after that what a vendor is, because your vendor master is carrying three versions of half of them. Then the invoice has to match a purchase order, so purchase orders enter the model, and an invoice stops being a document and becomes an entity connected to a vendor, a purchase order, an approver, and a payment.

That is genuine work up front, and everything after it inherits the result. Fraud detection turns into a set of questions put to a model that already exists: is this a vendor we have never paid before, did the bank account on file change last week. Capturing early payment discounts becomes a matter of weeks rather than quarters, because the terms and due dates are already described.

The same shape recurs everywhere. Claims that need triage before an examiner sees them. Prior authorization sitting in a clinical review queue. Contracts waiting while someone checks the same six clauses for the two hundredth time. Constituent intake at a county agency. Onboarding that crosses five systems and loses a day at each handoff. Real volume, a document or a decision in the middle of it, and knowledge that currently lives in somebody’s head.

The Model Belongs to You

Naviant does the authoring. What gets authored is your property: your entities, your rules, the way your work moves, and the decisions your people have made along the way. It is maintained in a form your own team can read, and the standard applied is whether a competent group of engineers who have never met us could pick it up and understand how your organization runs.

The test Naviant holds itself to is what happens if you leave. Terminate the agreement and the platform stops, the interface goes away, and the engineers go back to Naviant. The model of your business stays with you, and not as a database export, but as the working description of how your organization operates, usable with none of our software in the picture.

That constraint rules out several shortcuts that would be commercially convenient, which is the point of having it. A renewal should be earned on whether the platform and the people running it are worth paying for, rather than on whether leaving is too painful to contemplate.
