OnBase licensing can be tricky, so in this blog and video demo below, we’re covering how to apply a license in OnBase.
How to Apply a License in OnBase: A Step-by-Step Guide
How to Apply a License in OnBase in 5 Steps
Step 1: Navigate to the Hyland Community Website
Start by heading over to the Hyland Community website. Once you’re logged in, click on the “Customer Portal” tab. From there, click on the “More” tab in the top right corner and select “Licensing” from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Download Your License Certificate
Now that you’re on the licensing page, scroll down to the “Issued License Certificates” section. Here, you’ll find the most up-to-date license certificates for your test and production environments. You can download whichever certificates you’d like by clicking on their links and saving them to a location of your choice.
Step 3: Apply the License in OnBase
Next, log in to the OnBase configuration. Navigate to the “Utils” tab, followed by “Licensing,” then “License Certificate,” and finally click the “Import” button. A new window will appear. For this example, we’ll start with a new install. Browse to the certificate you downloaded, click “Next” to review the changes to your system, and confirm they are correct. Click “Next” to continue.
Step 4: Enter the Data Source
You’ll then need to enter your data source, which can be found in parentheses in the OnBase configuration window title. In the case of this video example, the data source was “OnBase.” A warning window may appear, indicating that the license you’re applying will reduce your existing licenses. This may or may not be the case in your environment.
Step 5: Generate and Apply the Challenge Code
After clicking “Next,” you can copy the Challenge Code listed and return to the Hyland Community website again. Paste the code into the “Install License Certificate” text box and click “Submit.” A new code will be generated. Copy this new code and paste it back into the OnBase configuration response code text box. Click “Next” and then “Finish.”
Congratulations! You’ve successfully applied your OnBase licensing. Enjoy your newly licensed OnBase environment.
